hack-n-ship in bashrc
After reading ReinH’s post on hack and ship, two bash scripts allowing his team to streamline their workflow using git, I tried to put it in my .bashrc. Here it is
I can update the functions to use git shortcuts that are already there. Like using gc instead of git checkout. But I don’t think it’s worth the extra effort.
The unset commands feel itchy for me. Any suggestion ?

PKS jagokan Tutut?
Heboh-heboh soal PKS dan Tutut Soeharto menarik juga. Sampai-sampai dikatakan “Selain itu PKS juga menominasikan putri sulung HM Soeharto, Mbak Tutut sebagai salah satu calon pemimpin masa depan” Kucari-cari ada apa, kudapatkan di sini
Sebab, PKS, telah memasang iklan di salah satu tabloid dan majalah yang berisi tentang siapa tokoh perempuan yang dianggap berjasa bagi bangsa ini.
Di dalam iklan itu, lanjutnya, masyarakat dapat mengusung calonnya dengan mengirimkan SMS. “Terkumpul 600 atau 700 SMS, dan sekitar 50-an terkumpul nama,” jelasnya.
Beberapa nama yang terdaftar, di antaranya Mira Lesmana, Neno Warisman, Bunda Ifet, Tuty Alawiyah, Nia Dinata, Dian Sastro, Ani Soetjipto, Dewi Motik, dan Maria Hartiningsih.
Selain itu ada Toeti Aditama, Rosiana Silalahi, Siti Hardijanti Indra Rukmana (Tutut), Megawati Soekarnoputri, Khofifah Indar Parawansa, Sri Mulyani, Meuthia Hatta, dan sejumlah nama lainnya.
Juga
Masuknya Tutut dalam barisan calon penerima penghargaan, menurut Mabruri, bukan hasil setting internal PKS. Adalah keinginan masyarakat yang dijadikan alasan PKS memasukkan Tutut dalam daftar.
Bahkan
ama Mbak Tutut baru dalam tahap usulan dari masyarakat. Belum masuk nominasi. Bahkan setahu saya, ranking Mbak Tutut dan Megawati berada pada posisi bawah, sekitar urutan 20 dan 21-an,” katanya.
Kuharap ini bisa luruskan persepsi yang agak salah seperti yang ada di link pertama di atas tadi. Tanggal 18 Desember masih jauh. Kalau mau berduyun-duyun ajukan orang yang lumayan bersemangat, masih sempat.
Driver Speed Up 8300 Ubuntu
Ronald Hariyanto sudah menuliskan cara install driver Speed Up 8300 U, sebuah modem koneksi 3G yang bisa dipakai untuk koneksi IM 2, di Ubuntu. Sayangnya, dia tidak memberikan alamat site tempat download driver itu. Aku sudah temukan tempat yang dimaksudkannya, yaitu di 4shared.com, sebuah site penyedia jasa filesharing. Ini linknya.
Nasihat yang penting untuk calon tenaga offshore
Buat kawan-kawan yang mengharapkan limpahan rejeki dari negeri orang, mumpung di “sana” lagi krisis, ada dua artikel yang bagus mengenai outsource dan/atau offshore. Perlu dibaca agar kita tidak jadi pelajaran / contoh buruk seperti Firaun dan kawan-kawan. Sudah kutuliskan di sini.

I found two articles in a series about offshoring and/or outsourcing. They have lessons we can learn, as a company and as a (future) outsourcee.
The result is an industry whose symbol is “the Blue Screen of Death”; an industry whose probability of delivering a project on schedule and on budget is lower than the cure rate for most cancers.
There has to be something intangible in the U.S. that causes this. That intangible is that Americans interact in a manner that is contusive for software development.
For example, suppose an American programmer forgets, let us say, the name a Unix shell command. He knows what it does and has used it in the past but today he cannot remember the name. The American programmer immediately asks the person in the next cubicle, “What’s the name of the command that does…” He gets the answer in 2 minutes and feels no shame for asking such an easy question. In many countries a programmer in the same situation will spend a week going through manuals to find the answer. Asking the person next door to get the answer would be humiliating.
Pentaho CDF Installation Manual
Today I have to learn to use Pentaho Community Dashboard Framework (CDF). Downloaded it, I can’t find how to install it to existing installed Pentaho. Wandering, I found it here.
Manual Install of CDF when not using Pedro’s installation project:
1. Select form project-cdf/patches either the folder target-preconfiguredinstall or target-preconfiguredinstall-tomcat, depending if you are running JBoss or Tomcat.
2.Copy all files from the subfolders of target-preconfigured… into the respective subfolders on your machine.
(CAUTION: Do not copy web.xml, but add only the tags (2) related to the Dashboards.jsp to your web.xml)
3. Copy the Dashbods folder from project-cdf/solution to your solution repository
4. Copy all files from the subfolders in project-cdf/patches/project-cdf/solution to the respective subfolders in your solution repository
That should be it!
The portion that needed to be added to web.xml is
